Hibernating Bear & Obstacles

I have had a trying week y’all but it is finally Friday!!! The hibernating bear in the room is me…I don’t know if it’s the weather or the exhaustion from working full time while going to school getting my degrees for the last six years or maybe my body knows the tax season from hell is coming and from Feb to April 15th I won’t be sleeping, but whatever it is my body just wants to sleep all the time (hello run on sentence FAIL).

I have had a few other obstacles to deal with this week that threw my game off:

1. I was late getting up this morning (the whole bear thing) and could only get in a 30 min workout but I still got myself to go! At the gym I also had a minor situation ***TMI spoiler alert if you don’t like bathroom talk don’t read on***!!!!
I was on the treadmill doing my 5 minute warm up walk and trying to get pumped up to get a run on and the dreaded bathroom urge came on. I tried to ignore it but it wasn’t happening and there was no way in hell I could run so at 6 minutes in I stopped and took care of my business! Afterwards I got on the death master to get a good sweat on I wasn’t going to waste any more time with what little was left!

So with the 6 minutes on the treadmill and 16 minutes on the death master I was able to burn 272 calories. Since it was leg day I also managed to get in some seated leg presses – I did 3 sets of 12 with 70 pounds and burned some more.


It wasn’t the best workout but I got something in and made the best of it!

2. I have also been in a 2 day class for work so I’m not in the office and have no access to a kitchen. I was good and still took a smoothie for breakfast both days and avoided the provided donuts and bagels.


I wasn’t able it pack a lunch but there was a Whole Foods nearby so I was still able to eat healthy and vegan.

Are you going to be a rock star everyday? No! Things will come up and your schedule will get disrupted sometimes. Do what you can do and make the best of it – look at it as a fun challenge. I got out of whack and wasn’t perfect but I focused on the things that I did do right and feel good about what I was able to accomplish despite all the obstacles.

I am wearing my orange and blue today….Go Broncos!!!
